Smartphone Navbars Are Underutilized

Typically a websites main navigation seen on a desktop computer is replaced with the 'hamburger menu icon' on a smartphone, that when tapped, opens the navigation window of the sites links to the sites pages. How many times does a site visitor access this menu?

What we are presented with is a black or white screen with the list of links, nothing more. From a marketing perspective, this is one of the most important webpage of the entire site. Yes, you can think of it as another webpage. So, why not build it, style it and provide additional information albeit limited due to available real estate.

In my example, I use for this site, I simply added a message and 2 pictures. This window can be used to add a flair to your presentation as well as to promote a special product or a particular page on the website.

This menu can only be seen on a smartphone, never on a desktop. Most site visitors are using this device to view websites now and websites are now 'responsive', in that they can be viewed on different devises. This menu is unique. Developers need to take advantage of this.
